This Is How We Roll...

Momma got out to see the dogs yesterday, something she resisted while ensconced comfortably in a hospital bed with a remote in one hand and a room service call button in the other...

But I insisted and she was glad I did.

She is one frustrated lady at the moment, being quite aware that her sentence making capabilities are faulty. Sometimes she laughs. Sometimes she just shakes her head and says , "Never mind. I give up" because the words simply do not come.

I was telling her yesterday how remarkably few gray hairs she has despite being 73. She declared she'd trade for gray hair if she could have her speech back fully functioning.

Not that some of you don't need reminding, but the ability to talk should be cherished and never taken for granted.

Babble on.

On the other side of the coin, Momma losing some more mobility just made me more aware of how much mobility I've traded for good food and beer. My training is coming along pretty well. I've dropped ten points in my blood pressure with only the one month of working out, and I feel like an athlete in a fat suit, rather than just a chubby-bubby.

The new bike is great, and to overcome the soreness in my arse, I give you my solution-- a strap-on pillow.

Excercise makes me release gas though, so we'll see if I ever use this pillow as a pillow ever...

Your Mom looks pretty young and fit at 73. I imagine that in time her speech will come back. It's just a long slow road she has to travel to get there.

How clever, a pillow strapped to the bike seat.

Good to see your mum up and about.

BTW, I said gel seat, not bed!

Your Mum looks GREAT for a woman who is 73 and just had a stroke.

Also, that pillow should be burned when you no longer have the need for it. Eeeewww!

Glad your momma is doing better.

I also would agree on that creative seat addition...your ass tends to eat those tiny seats!

Glad your Mom is feeling better and hope she continues her recovery and gets enough speech back that she isn't so frustrated. She sure seems to be keeping a great attitude about it all. And good for you for working out. Keep it up and you might inspire me.

Glad you're mom is up and about. I know from my work that difficulty with speech is extraordiraily frustrating for people. Not being able to make yourself easily understood is so hard.
