More Lake Shots And Stuff--

Other than watching the Olympics, walking to the lake really has been the only thing of interest going on round here.
There is a fire camp at the lake-- fire fighters from places like Utah who were brought out here to ensure the last of fire season doesn't destroy us all.
There is a fire about ten miles from here, started by lightning, that has been burning for about a week. For some reason, the wind has kept the smoke away from us, and the fire fighters I talked to said it was about a 700 acre fire, in rugged terrain, but that it was backed up against the old Biscuit fire-- in other words, in one direction, to the west, a fire a few years before burned up everything already.
So there have been some rather rugged looking young ladies down at the supermarket, dressed in cameo pants with T-shirts that show off dirty chest outlines (where soot highlights the contours of the female form) each with faces shiny with soot and many wipes from sweaty forearms with the hair singed and gone ...
My kind of gals...
There is also a poisonous algae bloom occurring on the lake, and I have to be careful to keep my dogs from drinking the lake water and swimming in areas where the algae collects.
As of today, I have changed routes around the lake, and may even forgo any more walking there with the dogs until the all clear is given on the blooming algae. "A neurotoxin" is what the sign posted says. "Deadly to animals".
Yeesh. Like I need that...

Beautiful photos. Shame about the fire and the lake but I suppose that's nature. What colour is the algae bloom? Lots of dead fish? Does it smell?

We too had to change our b-day party plans yesterday due to blooming algae~ Dorena Lake was added to the list. We hung at the river which is a safe bet. Lately every time I see a dragonfly somehow I think of you lol..enjoy the sooty eye candy!

I'm thinking if those sooty, sweaty ladies in the store saw these pics of the lake, they'd jump in regardless of the algae bloom!

Thanks for the gorgeous photos.

Sounds like you and I are spending our days in the same way. I actually thought of you yesterday while I was walking around my lake.
