I have one, I have one.
Sting singing Little Wing
One song? Just one? I have so many different songs for different moods... I'll have to think about this...
(And darn - I can't see what your fav is since I'm at work and the link or video or whatever it is won't show up. I'll have to check when I'm at home.)
So, you know how when someone asks what your favorite song is, you can't think of a single shred of music? Yup. I'll let you know if I find myself humming something today.
Besides, if I pick the "wrong one" you'll give me shit about it. (There's one that just popped into my head, squeaky guitar fingering and all, but I don't know if it's my favorite. And you might say it's parady anyway)
I agree with tammie jean. I have so many "favorites". You know, the ones that cause an involuntary shiver and strike a deep emotional chord. If I have to pick the one that has been a long-time "favorite" it would have to be Ave Maria. That's actually rather strange because I'm not religious, at least not about the whole God thing. It just has always given me shivers. Maybe it's the passion it expresses. I also get emotional about Wind Beneath My Wings, Send In The Clowns, The Gift of Song, our National Anthem and so many many others. If I think of more of them today I'll get back to you.
By the way, your comments on that other blog have given me the chuckles. You are sooooo right.
gawd, I have so many favorites but I don't know that I have an all-time favorite. I'll have to think on this a while.
here's one to start - Policeman by Chicago (from Chicago XI)
Ugh. OK, first one that popped into my head was "Shook Me All Night Long" by AC/DC.
Then, it hit me, the REAL favorite... Time In A Bottle by Jim Croce. It was "our song" at our wedding, and it is so perfect for us.
I still love Petty's American Girl after all these years...
bob! There is no You-Tube for your favorite song! You need to get busy!
I agree that it's next to impossible to choose an all time favourite...so how about the FIRST piece of music that literally made my knees go weak and I never get tired of...(one of the first pieces I HAD to learn on the piano and one of the few memorized)...I was nine and walking into the living room for the key change and that was it...Percy Sledge - When a Man Loves a Woman
I Think I Love You. Oh sorry, wrong post. : ) (but still a good song by the Partridge Family)
My favorite song is "Should I Stay or Should I Go" by the Clash. Guaranteed to make me dance like nobody's business.
Lights~Journey
Even though I'm a country girl...sometimes I truely miss the city. This one always reminds me of times in SanFran.
Oh God. Only one?
Hmmm...a toss-up between Snow Patrol's Chasing Cars and U2's All I Want Is You. Yeah...go with U2, since All I Want Is You has a better video.
Don Henley: "End of the Innocence"
Just one? Jeez, there are quite a few.
I have to name at least two:
The Beatles' In My Life and The Cure's Lovesong.
I'm ashamed to admit I'm not familiar with your favorite song. Why is it your favorite?
Hi lizza!
John Prine has sort of flown just under the radar for a long time, even in the US. He wrote Bonnie Raitte's hit "Angel From Montgomery" which makes my top fifty, as well as "Speed Of The Sound Of Lonliness" (Nancy Griffith) which also makes my top fifty.
Spend an afternoon on You-Tube doodling around with him on a rainy day. "Hello in There" "Sam Stone", "Illegal Smile"... are all a part of Americana that doesn't really get exported.
todd rundgren -- just one victory
but if you have to pull it from youtube, the studio version of the song is playing with some horrifying dale jr video. please tell me you can go with sound only.
God, John Prine writes lyrics that do not blink.
You know that naming my favorite song is akin to asking me my favorite book, or my favorite movie. Im-fucking-possible.
But continuing in your theme, Nancy Griffin singing John Prine's song, "The Speed of the Sound of Lonliness."
I dare you not to cry. I will.
What a great idea this was, Scott. It's so much fun to stop by here in the morning and listen to the favorites others have chosen. Many of them echo my thoughts that it's really difficult to select one out of so many. I only selected Ave Maria because that's one I have heard and loved since I was a child. It would be impossible to chose from all the others I have come to love since then.
I don't have just ONE, but Life on Mars/David Bowie always hits the spot for me.
I guess I missed your deadline but my favorite song is Guns N Roses..sweet child of mine. I also like Eric Clapton wonderful tonight. Loved this post...
Now I wanna go put my top down on the convertible and drive REALLY fast listening to that song. Thanks for posting it...
I'm more than a little late, but...
My favorite song ever is 'Is There Something I Should Know?' by DuranDuran.
I doubt my favorite song is online- Naked in the Jungle by Van Morrison. But then again, my favorite song may be different tomorrow.
I would have to list one by each genre, I think..
But as for the most beautiful piece of music I personally love, it would have to be Beethovan's Ninth Symphony.
But, then, I also love Bill Monroe's "Uncle Pen" and Jethro Tull's "Thick as a Brick".
I'm both amazed and baffled. Amazed that you found anything of it, and baffled by what that was.
there are so many..but at the moment it's Ten Years Gone by the mighty Zep. Totally missed your deadline, but must do something about Duran Duran being the last thing up there!
500 Miles...by the Proclaimers...
Today this is my favorite song:
