NanoWrimo Madness Goodness Gracious Me!

You know you are losing it when you find messing with your camera and screwing with the resultant picture amusing diversions to the lofty art of novel writing. You know you are even crazier when you call spewing out 50,000 words in a month "lofty". You know you are a mind with a burnt out shell when you have nothing in your head but numbers... 37,500... 38,300..

I've got eight days left of this madness and under twelve thousand words to go so that I can have a banner button on my blog that says I won.

(Won what? I might ask?)

What I wonder is if I have to finish the novel or just cross the word count mark? I am not clear on that issue. And if I cross out half of every other word right after the end of November and replace it, does that mean I cheated? And what, pray tell, will be the end response of those who read the hefty bit of November output from a reader's POV? Will they spur me on to work on it some more? Or just smack my shoulder and say -- "Wow! That's a lot of words!"

All this and more are shooting pains into my forehead like I snorted my coke upon a laugh at a drive-thru in Eureka (true story, that...)

Again, the nursey part of me wonders, when you say coke, if you are referring to the beverage or the drug.

Hoping it's the drink because you actually seem to have some intelligence (this is a compliment, by the way) and I happen to find your blog amusing and I'm pretty sure you'll reach your 50,000 word limit with little or no problems whatsoever.

Will link you, if you don't mind.

Still looking for my go-go gadget arms, by the way.

I'm taking the 50K to be words, not necessarily a finished novel. I'm certain most novels are 50K times six or something by the time they are "done". I've taken the "ease into approach" as I'm writing a children's novel for my first go-round at NaNoWriMo.

KEEP IT UP!! YOU CAN DO IT! And even if you do scratch out every other word in December, it's the point that youwrote enough to find some really good gems within the 25K you have left.

I go with just the 50K words...and yet I worry because my book is heading toward the home stretch - which means if it ends at about 50K or a little less - I have a REALLY short book on my hands.

Great blog - I'll be back to read some more!

Just write the 50,000 words before the end of November! It's not neuro-surgery.

Write, Scott, write. You know you can do it. I know you can do it. Therefore, just do it.

Also, if you don't - I may turn into Nurse Ratched.

you need to have some relaxation anyway dear! be proud of yourself...and let it show...most of us would be lucky to spew out only 1,000 words in the amount of time you have spewed your gutts! xoxo your almost there....:)
