Toad My Blog--

Well, I went on record criticizing a blog "critiquer" for being too kind, and then sure enough, Frog My Blog shows up to see pictures of my cockles and a few throw away posts in a mood to be wowed or else...

Teehee.

Here is the link.

Go give her one of these toads and a kiss...

One of the cool things about blogging, is that you can answer back. If you don't agree with someone or something, you can let her rip. I actually have a platform to critique the critiquer, and I am gonna use it.

First off, don't go to a heavily wordy blog on a day you are tired, make claim to having read the contents, and then offer a review based on what you actually haven't read. It is a bogus enterprise, based on a lie, and just plain lacking in integrity.

If you are in the business of critiquing people's blogs, I would think you would spend the time actually reading the blogs. A short glance at my site meter tells me that there is no way our reviewer actually read the "very long" posts she claims to have. I read extremely fast--always have-- and I couldn't read my own writing as fast as this woman makes claim.

She is on record as having spent twenty minutes with ten page views, according to site meter. She claims to have read the first ten or twelve entries and then checked out the "favorites" (which is what my blog really revolves around) and read some of those too. The truth is that they were too long for her, she didn't read them, just skimmed a few, and offered up a rather prosaic and pathetic "critique" so that she could get her tired ass home and do whatever else it is that she does.

All this is fine and really cool.

Truly.

Except that it is dishonest and shallow and a misrepresentation of what her blog is supposed to be about. If you are going to have a blog about reviewing blogs, you would think you would do just that. If reading blogs has sullied your enjoyment of reading blogs, get the heck out of the water.

Here is the review, which starts off fair and matter of fact and unimaginative-- just someone going through the critiquing motions...

"It’s a plain blue blogger template. Nothing fancy, a little stuff in the sidebar, his “hot or not?” button and rating, which is sort of silly to me, but whatever. There are too many posts on the front page. It goes back to September 22. Entirely too long.I read the first 10 or 12 posts, and I though “nah, this isn’t what I’m looking for,” but then I read some of his favorites. And they’re pretty good. Most of the posts are long. More like a grouping of short stories than blog entries. There’s nothing really exciting here, but the favorites are not too painfully boring either.
I’ve been at work preparing too many tax returns this week, so you’ve got to wow me. Not wow’ed. But OK"

Now, how many "favorites" do you think this woman actually read? After reading ten posts? In twenty minutes? What a load of bullocks.

"More like a grouping of short stories than blog entries."

WTF is a blog entry? Do you think this woman might have soiled herself by reading too many "blog entries?" I think this woman needs to take a much needed vacation, and get out of the blog reviewing business. Seriously. She has become like a maid to the cyber world, making up just one more bed in a world full of unmade beds and it shows.

So if you are actually from Frog My Blog (Lord knows why after that unsalted review), may I suggest that you go straight to my favorites column and read some of what I am proud of?

Then tell me what you honestly think...

As far as blog reviews and blog reviewers, I give this lady a single bug, and it's one of those stink bugs you want to avoid stepping on, because they really stink...

Teehee...

(Boy, that was fun!)

What I wanna know is WHERE DO YOU FIND THESE STINKERS? Honestly, do you go looking for these people to critique you, or do they find you?
And what kind of bizarro has no life of her own and feels she is qualified to critique the lives of others?
The nerve!
Anyway, you know you have some loyal fans and readers, so let the stink bugs stink, that's what they do best!

Hmmm... Thanks, you two. I am all for fair, and fair minded "critiquing", which is why I feel it fair game to critique the critiquer...

I signed up to be critiqued, which means I asked for it, and I would have appreciated the honest effort had one occured.

Unfortunately, what we represent ourselves with this week is usually what is given out as the sole impression, and negates any and all effort put forth in prior weeks.

You would think as a reviewer of blogs, they'd have this figured out by now...

You make me laugh, you really do. And that's a good thing.

The reviler .. reviewer .. is from the microwave generation. They want it short, fast and nasty. (I started to say 'sweet', but I don't think anyone between the ages of 3 and 35 is sweet anymore)

I hope you sent this back as a comment to that revile. REVIEW, damn it, why can't I write that word? If you didn't, you really should.

carol-- I'm just working up to getting started...

You know how it is. You think about it for a week or so... then you feel guilty for not actually getting sarted, which gets you started...
