Still Penning Classics...

I have a friend we call Wiz (short for Wizard)who brought his girlfriend from Philly out here to our woodsy land and was driving her around showing her the sights. He took her down a dark and scary road in the woods while she protested.

"I've been in these woods my whole life," he told her as if that meant anything.

Well, the road went into the woods and dead ended, with no place to turn around. As it was rather steep coming back out in reverse, Wiz blew out an ailing transmission and they had to walk out of the dark and scary woods in the dark...

Wiz is a Wiz on the guitar but he doesn't write songs for himself. I was foolin' around trying to make fun of him with this song (which I wrote for him to doll up with fancy guitar playing) and I ended up with something kind of nice. Every chord is played with an eight count though blogger won't put them where they belong...

In These Woods
C Em
I’ve been in these woods… all my living days
C Em
I’ve been in these woods… since I was born
C Em
I’ve been in these woods… forever, I’d say
C Em
I’ve been in these woods… looking for you

C Em
Come with me, baby… let me show you
Am Em
How dark-green green can be
C Em
Come on, baby… let me show you
Am Em
how much fun fungi can be
C Em
Let’s go see the ancient stumps
Am Em
Find our small place in time
C Em
Let’s go down this scary road
Am Em
And see what end we find
C Em
Go with me, baby, explore with me, baby
Am Em
All these dark woods of mine

C Em
I’ve been in these woods… my whole life
Am
Looking for you
C
Looking for…
Em
You…oooooo…

C Em
I’ve been in these woods… my whole life
Am
Looking for you
C
Looking for…
Em
You… oooooo…

C Em
I’ve been in these woods… all my living days
C Em
I’ve been in these woods… since I was born
C Em
I’ve been in these woods… forever I’d say
C Em
I’ve been in these woods… looking for you
Am C
looking for you… looking for…
Em (fade)
you… oooooo… looking for you… oooooo…

I guess I'm not a real musician - seeing the chords doesn't really help me with the tune - but I think it would be kinda nice.

Why don't you tape yourself playing it?
