Bro'...

My brother Steve was up for quite a few days this last week. (Turn your head- it ain't my fault blogger keeps turning the picture on edge!)

He helped get Mum set up on a Wii and bought Mum a Wii platform to work on her balance skills.

Now that the pool is closed for the winter, Mum can Wii herself silly. It all helps with overcoming the symptoms created by her stroke.

Hard to believe, but Steve's got two kids about college age. He adores them and finds it hard to be away for any length of time.

So we take about as much of him as we can get, which seems to be never enough, especially factoring in the cloud of my sister's passing...
When we were kids, we would weigh ourselves in a kind of sibling competition. Whoever weighed the most, of course, was the victorious brother. These days, we look to the other side of the scale. I've now got six or eight pounds on Steve, as he's lost much less than I have in our weight loss competition.

"But you started fatter!" says my brother.

"All those big muscles you think you got is just marbling!" says me.

But he can eat more jalapenos than I can without crying...

I've still got him in one arm push-upping. My waste is bigger than his. His belly is bigger than mine. He's still taller (prolly always will be) but my feet are still bigger. I can outrun him. He can out military press me. I've still got him in arm wrestling. He has a taller reach. I can throw a tennis ball further with my arm. He can throw a tennis ball further with a CHUCK IT plastic tossing aid. I kill him in tennis. He solves problems faster and more efficiently than me, and makes more money...

And so it goes...

The question is, will we compete over who dies first? Or who lives longest?

"That's not fair..." I can hear Steve now. "I was born a whole year before you were even born..."

It's a much more honest and open competition than I have with my sister.

Yeah - the competition is fierce but at least it's out in the open. My brothers don't even talk to each other.
