I Put A Little Part Of My Sister In A Box And Brought Her Home...

I brought a few things from my sister's house home with me, and brought a little part of my sister too.

No, really. I put a small box of Sandy's partial remains inside a sheepskin slipper that I stuffed behind the seat of our truck and drove her back up here to Oregon.

We had power outages and water outages for two days after we got home, so I left Sandy in the little box stuffed in the smelly old slippers under the seat in the truck for a few days.

It made me realize how little I value what many people value- namely time-honored rituals and perhaps a bit of propriety...

"Sandy doesn't care where her remains end up. She's dead." is how I put it to myself.

I suppose if asked, "a smelly old pair of sheepskin slippers" would NOT be on her list of romantic final resting places.

I put the box on a high shelf next to a picture of her and will spread her around a tree planted in her memory.

Who knows, maybe when I plant that tree, I'll throw those old slippers in the hole too?

Being as how she certainly had a sense of humor, i think she would like that.

I mean, if it was me i'd get a kick out of it.

I don't think she'd be upset at all. I've told my kids that they have to take little bits of me on their travels and leave me all over the world. They seem to be ok with that.

Are the slippers comfy? If so I am sure she wouldn't mind~

My sentiments exactly.

I'm so sorry, Scott. Will keep you in my thoughts.

Slippers are always good to have near-by. You just never know when you are going to need them.

Big Hugs, Scott, from a far. BT

Paid for my cremation several years ago. Told family/friends I really don't care if they even pick up the remains, at least I won't be taking up valuable space under ground.
However, if they choose to do something, sprinkle some of me under a Magnolia tree in the south and some of me around a Lilac bush in Ohio. Now, I'm thinking, I'll probably get peed on by dogs if they do that. ha. Oh well.

I think she would like what you're doing.

My mom has her dog Zoey's remains in her truck. She says "Zoey always did like to go for rides" and so she keeps her there until she finds the just right place.

I think your sister, if she knows you at all (Hell, I barely know ya, and reading this post was not surprising... it's just Scott to me) I'm sure she's just fine with how you're handling her.
