American Indian Dogs And Snow...

I find it hard to get on my bike and do my twenty miles these days for white and obvious reasons. Today, I opted for boots and a slog down the street in the snow.
Next door to us is an organic vineyard.
Actually, next door and behind us.
The owners of the vineyard also do something rather amazing. They have managed to keep a dead breed of dog alive by selectively breeding and searching the states for additional dogs.
They do DNA tests and everything...
I stopped the owner at his gate and asked permission to walk his vineyards with my camera.
"No problem".
"Wow. Is that one of your dogs?"
A super handsome golden dog with piercing blue eyes came up the road and sat, staring at me and Rosilynn, who had come with me.
"Dusty",
"Friendly?"
"Absolutely."
These are the dogs that yap and howl in our valley eveytime the coyotes start doing the same. The whole night gets filled with the wild sounds of these dogs, and my dogs tend to huddle close to me. No call of the wild in Wenzel...
I wish I had gotten a few decent pictures, but the owner, whose name was Kim, had to "get back" and his dog ran back with him.
Oh yeah, we got more snow last night, and expect another storm on thursday.
Cool beans...

I love the photos. Snow can make everything look beautiful and almost magical.

I read a lot of the information on the Indian Dogs and find it very interesting. I intend to go through and read most of what he has on his site. Thanks for sharing.

Ditto on the dogs!

And the snow looks lovely until you have to shovel it.

Scot, these pictures are STUNNING, and I am so glad you managed to squeeze in a pic of the dog you were talking about. I've never seen a dog with blue eyes before, I would be fascinated to see a full on face shot, so please do pay this guy a visit, do you know what the breed is called?
