Why One Should Never Really Diss America...
Over the last few years, with the advent and popularity of blogs, I’ve noticed something that just is.
People like to tell us that they know that everything is really sucky and that because it is sucky, they want to leave and go somewhere.
Fair enough. Many places really ARE sucky, and the desire to go someplace better is a legitimate and earnest desire.
The trouble is, if you are living in some of the better places to live, most notably “the secular west”, you really don’t have many options.
While people bemoan the “police state” and complain about rogue policeman and unjust laws and systems that are imperfect, I am always led to memories of places where “the rule of law” is a laughable and optimistic vagary. In America, for example, we have bad policemen but a pretty reasonable system. The system allows for citizens to fight back against the improper use of the law, and it does a mediocre, yet acceptable job of it. We complain about how it all doesn’t quite all work just right, and we complain about all of the misuses of the system, and yet many that I have observed, ranting in their blogs and out in the real world, don’t have a clue about how some of the rest of the world functions.
I ran across this clip the other day.
Think of it not only as a traffic snaggle, but as a metaphor for the way many countries apply their laws and what results from a lack of cohesive societal agreement.

In my opinion many thigs are pretty sucky about the way our country runs, and yet there aren't many other plces I'm eager to live. I would ratehr stay here and owrk on my little piece of the world. (Unless I up and move somewhere like Tasmania. You never know.)

Snott I didn't understand the comment about hoarding watermellons. I do have one to throw out though.

Tom C.-- ALright, Here is the easy answer. Your ideation of god (assuming you attempt to follow the christian text)declares that god is so brilliant, he can whip up a solar system, a galaxy, and an entire universe in six days.
That's a pretty cool dude...
So why would you assume something so astounding would care about something as petty as "belief".
Something tells me this idea is man-made, designed to control a population and get them to act in a specified manner.

Lol, the traffic scene is much like Frogger. Unfortunately, I believe most all Americans have got it made in the shade, we just don't realize it & value it. I hear people bitch about paying taxes, yet they never seems to stop and realize that they have paved roads to drive on and street lights & stop signs...
