Life Is A 50/50 Proposition

My dog Wenzel, which some of you have had the pleasure of meeting, is now in a vet hospital fighting for her life. She has some kind of blood disorder, where her body is attacking red blood cells. The blood cell carcasses are stopping up her system causing systemic organ failure. These are big city docs who remind me of "Dr. House" in that they get all the really hard cases.

Wenzel is in the best hands possible. A sample of her blood has been sent to Colorado for "testing". These guys don't just neuter pit bulls...

It has been one roller coaster week so far, and I am glad that tonight, I can sleep, knowing that there is nothing I can do.

I am so sorry. There's just not much sadder than a sick animal.

Fight on Wenzel.

I'm so sorry, Scott. Our dogs bring us so much love and joy, and they can also break our hearts. I certainly hope the vets are able to come up with a fix for Wenzel. The both of you will be in my heart.

How horrible for both of you. Is it anything like how Tuti went? If so, could there be something somewhere in the vicinity that they both stumbled into? Does a neighbor have an unusual hobby or work using chemicals? Geez. Hope the docs get it figured out.

Thank you all for all of the kind thoughts. Wenzel got a blood transfusion last night. She is stable today. They need to keep her stable while the drugs take time to work. Test results are all due in this afternoon and evening.

Thank You all again for the warmth and concern!

Scott--

Our puppies send their love and butt sniffs her way. Poor baby girl! Give her hugs from us when you can.

Interesting...do dogs have to be typed for blood too?
