47 BILLION Lightyears In Radius... The Burning Bush... Hmmm...
As humans progress through the journey from ignorance to knowledge, every now and then, an event, an accomplishment achieved by humankind, will shake our foundations and tickle our fancies.
The circumnavigation of the globe. The discovery of germs and things too small to be seen by the naked eye via higher and higher powered microscopes...
And now... galaxies in such large numbers that our minds can't wrap themselves around the zeroes that back them up...
The amount of profound spiritual awe contained in these next two videos won't be understood for another century or two, I am afraid.
It is like we've just historically emerged from a dark theatre playing inhumane fairy tales over and over, and our eyes are not adjusted to the absolute brightness of the knowledge we now possess.
If you have kids...
Teach them about science.
Maybe someday, they can help us see...

I put a nice post up for you today. :)
I'm working on adopting your awesome way of looking at the world.
Wow!! Thanks for the videos, Scott. The universe has always amazed me and I have tried with limited success to get my brain around it. Just the concept of infinity causes my mind buckle. How can anything have no end?! How can this universe go on forever? These thoughts tell me that I know almost nothing in the overal scope of things, an it tells me that I'm almost nothing in camparison.
What a way to start my morning.
Wow, again!
So cool! I read once in one of my parenting books that when you take a child outside on a starry night and show them the universe the lesson they get from all that enormity is that anything is possible. Do the same for a group of adults and what they learn is that they are tiny and insignificant. Methinks I'll start to think more like a kid...
