Nikky

I started this blog over a year ago now. I’ve had people coming and going. I’ve never had one of those “killer post” that attract huge volumes of hits. I’ve always had a steady, small-time stream of people stopping by to see what I was willing to commit to electronic paper…

One of my early readers was and still is, a woman named Nikky. I’ve never met her. I just know she stops by many times in a week. Every now and then, she’ll leave me a comment and my favorite quote coming from her is “I’m such a dork!”

Well, she may or may not really be a dork, but the one thing she is, is devoted.

And I don’t mean to my blog or my writings, either. This woman has waited an incredible 15 months or so, to get her husband home from Iraq.

I gotta tell you, I think she is fucking amazing for dealing with everything in the manner in which she did.

She started a small and not often read blog called “What I Think About“. It was basically written for her husband as something he could get online and read, connecting with his wife while he was thousands of miles away.

I have been stopping by her blog several times a week for quite some time now.

There is nothing profound there.

Not in the obvious sense, anyway. But I gotta tell you, if you get it you get it. The love, the children, the day to day without the husband. Worse than that, the day to day with the husband in a war zone.

Well…

I am pleased to announce, that hubby made it home and is doing vile things to wifey inside a tent at a music festival…

I mean, isn’t that the coolest thing you’ve ever heard in your life?

Well, there's the good news we don't get to hear about on a day to day basis.

Xclnt!!! I had to giggle tho... poor fellow has been living pretty much in a tent for months maybe... but playing "tent" with the wifey is MUCH better! Welcome home Mr. Nikky!

What the deployed miss most is the little everyday normal things.
"Dork" is the LAST thing she is.

Aw, thanks Scott! I was actually confused when I first got to your blog (what the hell is my blog doing at Scott's blog!)

I guess I am just lucky that my husband has a thing for dorks, cuz that IS what I am!

Thank you all for your comments, I will pass them on to "Mr Nikky" (I loved that, I had to giggle and call him that!)

After 22 months gone, he was very happy to sleep in a tent as long as he could finally cuddle with his roommate! I don't think Bart would have been too receptive!
