Nothing Like A Pool In One's Backyard, Oh Baby...

I dug up this old photo of Pops when he was in the Air Force. This is actually his passport photo. Sometimes I wonder what my Mum saw in him, he was such an ape...

The last time my brother and sister and I went back to Mississippi, we were passed along from distant relative to distant relative. Most of these people we had never met, and we three had no clue how we fit in, but they all seemed to know our place on the tree so we just went where we were sent.

Invariably, our heritage was discussed and invariably, the conversation went something like this-- "Well, Steve has got his Daddy's chin, and Sandy sure has her daddy's profile, and Scott has definitely got his momma's eyes... Boy, I'm sure glad no one got their daddy's ears!"

Since we be wealthy folk, I decided that not only did we need to have a fish pond in the front yard with a fountain, we also needed a backyard swimming pool and a pool house. Here is the pool and pool house that we spent a fortune on getting installed.

Like a fool, I didn't read the directions where it says to make sure the bottom of the pool is not all wrinkly because then you have to stop filling it half way up and get in and take out all the wrinkles which are weighed down by water, which weighs about eight pounds per gallon. The water comes out of our well at about 48 degrees, these days.

I'm still trying to get up the nerve.

I got most of the garden area around our fish pond all weeded out and am starting to bravely put in flowers. I say bravely, because we haven't completely left the possibility of freezing nights behind.

I'm doing all this in an effort to keep Momma coming outside. The more she gets out and about, the healthier and happier she'll be. I'm working on a solar panel of sorts to put on the roof to heat the little pool with. If I can just get the damn wrinkles out...

Having a pond and a pool in the backyard and being rich has its advantages. The neighbors are all flocking over in their swim trunks to take advantage of my good nature...

Yes, we have that pool too! My daughter bought it - put it up for a party and never went near it again. She did not hook up the filter for it either or put in chemicals.
Nice neighbors you have. Looks like they could do with a makeover though.

How kind of you to be so generous with those poor, deprived children from the outer edges of the neighborhood.
